Thalian Association Community Theatre will hold auditions for Dear Edwina Jr, Monday September 28 at 4:30 pm.  Auditions will be held at the Community Arts Center, 120 S. 2nd Street in downtown Wilmington. Dear Edwina Jr. will be directed by Community Arts Center Director Samantha Chappell with music direction by Cathy Street. The production will be filmed and released online and sent to NHC schools. If an announcement is made that opens theaters in the next few weeks, TACT will also proceed with a live show that follows all COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Audition Participants need to prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre style song to sing. Those wishing to audition may call 910-251-1788 to set up an audition time.  Callbacks will be Tuesday September 29 at 5 pm. Due to mass gathering rules, the cast will remain smaller than typical TACT youth shows. All roles are available. TACT’s artistic director encourages youth with all levels of experience to audition. All are welcome. PLEASE ARRIVE WITH YOUR AUDITION FORM ALREADY FILLED OUT. They are available on Thalian.org or at the front desk of the CAC. Please do not enter the building until it is your time to audition.

Dear Edwina JR. is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up. From the creators of Junie B. Jones, The Musical, this show is the perfect “girl power” musical for a new generation. Dear Edwina JR. follows the adventures of plucky advice-giver-extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly “Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends, through clever, catchy and poignant songs.

Edwina Spoonapple

The creator, director and choreographer of The Dear Edwina Show and is the main-staple of the play. Her character goes through a tremendous arc throughout the series of events in the play; from frustration to relief, anger to joy, horror to happiness& all within one afternoon in her own garage!

A neighbor boy who is helplessly in love with Edwina. He dotes on her every move and is always conniving a way to gain her attention.
