Volunteer with Thalian Association Community Theatre Today

Thalian Association Community Theatre is a non-profit, membership organization that is dedicated to enhancing the rich artistic environment of the Cape Fear region. Tracing its roots back to 1788, Thalian Association Community Theatre was founded to provide arts education and bring the excitement of the performing arts to Wilmington, North Carolina.

Members elect the volunteer Board of Directors for the Thalian Association Community Theatre, and our Board elects our officers. Salaried positions include: Executive Director, Artistic Director, Community Arts Center Director/Operations Coordinator, and Production Manager with all other manpower coming from scores of loyal volunteers. Membership in the community theatre organization is enjoyed by hundreds of area residents.

This year we will produce five productions on the Main Stage of historic Thalian Hall, one production at Kenan Auditorium, five Youth Theatre productions on the Second Street Stage in the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center and host special fundraising events in the Cape Fear Region, including the Memorial Day Weekend tradition Orange Street ArtsFest. None of these productions and events are possible without the support of our volunteers.

Since 1994 we have managed the Hannah Block Historic USO/ Community Arts Center for the City of Wilmington. Special events are often held at the HBHUSO/CAC, with the largest being our annual Orange Street ArtsFest, held every Memorial Day weekend since 1995. Volunteers are needed to assist with the organization and technical production of special events, such as the OSAF and a new art exhibition ARTFall. We also need assistance with ushering and concessions for Youth Theatre productions at the Community Arts Center.

Are you looking for a way to contribute to our community? We hope you will join our community theatre family and continue our tradition of performing arts and culture in the Cape Fear region. One person can make a big impact!

All volunteer projects qualify for student community service hours and volunteers are invited to the dress rehearsals for Main Stage Thalian Hall productions.
