Madisyn Fleming is an eastern Kentucky native, 7-year North Carolinian. She attended Appalachian State University where she earned a degree in Theatre with a Performance Concentration, and a minor in English with a focus in Creative Writing. When she wasn’t on the stage performing, she was directing and workshopping plays, one of which went on to be produced in Maine with Hogfish Company, and her piece on the effects of climate change on underprivileged communities was brought to the 47th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference. After graduation, she was drawn from the mountains of Boone to the beaches of Wilmington, where she found a rich and supportive theatre community. You might have seen her as Shelby in Steel Magnolias (TACT), in Mouths of Babes Theatre Company’s Scotopia: Short Plays to Help You See in the Dark, or in Port City Playwright Company’s Ten Minute Miscellany. Upcoming you can find her as Betty in Beautiful The Carole King Musical with Opera House Theatre Company, and as Nancy in Shakers Revised with Harrington Productions. Madisyn is an Outreach Teacher with Theatre For All, empowering individuals with disabilities through performing arts. She also has the privilege of substitute teaching across New Hanover County Schools. She’s extremely excited to share her knowledge and passion for theatre with the students at TACT Academy this year!
